Trip to Africa :: 20070920 - 20071002

Mt. Kilimanjaro commonly referred to as the Roof of Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Trek from the Machame route took us five days to the top. We have the last camp at 4600 meters and did an overnight ascent to the summit, left camp at about midnight, and took 6 hours to summit. That made for a 10-12 hours trekking day. It's tough!

After six days trekking, we were going to safaris (Serengeti and Ngorongoro). On the safari game drive when I saw cheetahs, Leopard, a pride of lions with cubs, elephants, Thomson's Gazelle, Zebra, Giraffe - oh so many.
